Verse on the Edge: a rainy Friday night poetry reading with a lot of heart

SOFIA/c kicked off its first event with Verse on the Edge. Poets Cecily Nicholson, Phinder Dulai, and Taryn Hubbard all shared work with a warm and enthusiastic audience. It was a time a deep reflection on place and understanding our history and the histories of others. These poems not only offered new insights, but also provided a language that expresses our shared experience in this city.

About SOFIA/c

SOFIA/c is South of Fraser Inter-Arts Collective, a new collective of artists, writers and filmmakers based in Surrey, B.C.

SOFIA/c seeks to bring together interdisciplinary and intercultural literary, visual and media-based collaborations through the hosting and production of artist talks, literary events, and film screenings that profile and explore the diversity of cultural space and hybridity in Surrey.

Through the programming of these events, we want to create a space for Surrey’s emerging professional arts community, and tell its own unique and significant intercultural story to residents and visitors alike.
